Sodwana Bay
Printer friendly page...

This is the diving Mecca in Southern Africa. You will find beautiful sun drenched beaches and the crystal clear warm water makes for excellent diving all year round. The average winter (June to August) temperature is 24oC. Water temperature ranges from 20oC in winter and 28oC in summer. These are the Southern most coral reefs in the world and boasts myriad’s of Indian ocean reef fish.

It is also not unusual to encounter Whale sharks the giants of the ocean, dolphin, turtles, mantas and shoals of game fish on a dive. The different dive spots are named for their distance from Sodwana Bay namely 2 mile, 5 mile, 7 and 9 mile. As at Aliwal and Protea Banks the dive sites are reached by Inflatable semi rigid boats. This in itself can be very rewarding and often Whale sharks dolphins and beautiful sea birds are encountered.

Sodwana Bay lies in a MALARIA area and a prophylactic compatible for diving should be taken.
